The Cart Shed, Binham, North Norfolk, United Kingdom

The Cart Shed is on the outskirts of the village of Binham, four miles south of the coastal village of Blakeney on the north Norfolk coast. Binham is an old-fashioned village with a friendly pub, a wonderful village shop and petrol pump, and is set in unspoilt agricultural countryside. The star attraction of the village, however, is the magnificent medieval abbey, still largely intact and in regular use.

The Cart Shed is, as the name suggests, an old single-storey agricultural building, which has been sensitively modernized to a high standard. From the covered deck which runs the length of the house (perfect playroom) you enter a large open plan living room with kitchen (with dishwasher and electric stove) and dining area. As well as a large master bedroom with en suite bathroom, there are two smaller double bedrooms and another bathroom. The house is warm with underfloor heating throughout, and a powerful wood-burning stove in the living area. There is also a utility room with washing machine.

This area is full of atmospheric pubs and restaurants, as well as fashionable shopping in the charming local towns of Holt and Burnham Market. Nearby Wiveton Hall was featured in the recent highly successful BBC series, Normal for Norfolk. Local stately home is Holkham Hall which has extensive parkland for walking and biking, and Blickling Hall is an easy drive away. The nearby seaside town of Wells has a bucket and spade beach and is home to a colony of seals. The protected coastline offers wonderful beaches and marshland for exploring and birdwatching.
